In 1307, Austrian forces oppress the people of Switzerland. William Tell swore never to commit violence after his time in the Crusades but joins a rebellion to stop the bloodshed. Austrian Governor Gessler forces Tell to shoot an apple on his son Walter’s head, but the gifted archer leaves him unscathed. Gessler takes Tell and Princess Bertha of Habsburg captive but the pair soon escape.
